Terms of Service

By accessing or using HausLink (“the Platform”, “we”, “us”, “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

These Terms apply to all users of HausLink, including landlords, tenants, administrators, and visitors. Your continued use of the Platform constitutes your acceptance of these Terms.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or platform notifications. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

HausLink is a digital property management platform incorporated and operating in Rwanda. Our platform connects landlords and tenants, facilitating property discovery, rental applications, lease management, and rent collection across Rwanda and East Africa.

HausLink provides the following services:

4.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account on HausLink. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older and legally capable of entering binding agreements.

4.2 Account Information

You agree to provide accurate, complete and current information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities under your account.

4.3 Account Security

You must notify HausLink immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. HausLink will not be liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account due to your failure to maintain account security.

4.4 One Account Per Person

Each individual may maintain only one active account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent platform rules or pricing may result in permanent suspension.

4.5 Account Verification

HausLink may require identity verification at any time. Providing false identity documents is a serious violation and will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to relevant authorities.

5.1 Free Starter Access

The free Starter plan allows tenants to view property listings including photos, location area, price, and room counts. Contact details, full descriptions, addresses and application functionality are restricted to Professional subscribers.

5.2 Professional Subscription

Professional access costs RWF 5,000 per month, billed monthly. Your subscription will automatically renew each month until cancelled. You may cancel at any time and will retain access until the end of the current billing period.

5.3 Tenant Responsibilities

As a tenant on HausLink, you agree to:

• —Provide truthful information on all rental applications
• —Upload genuine documents only
• —Communicate respectfully with landlords
• —Pay rent on time as agreed in your lease
• —Report maintenance issues through the platform
• —Not share your account with others

5.4 Application Accuracy

Submitting false information on a rental application is grounds for immediate account suspension and may result in legal action. Landlords may pursue damages for losses caused by false application information.

5.5 Refund Policy for Subscriptions

Tenant subscriptions are non-refundable once the billing period has commenced. If you cancel mid-month, access continues until the month end. No partial refunds are provided for unused days.

6.1 Registration Fee

Landlords pay a one-time lifetime registration fee of RWF 10,000. This fee grants permanent landlord access to HausLink and is non-refundable once the account is activated.

6.2 Landlord Responsibilities

As a landlord on HausLink, you agree to:

• —Only list properties you legally own or have authority to rent
• —Provide accurate and truthful property information
• —Upload genuine property photos of the actual property
• —Respond to tenant applications within a reasonable time
• —Honor approved applications and agreed rental terms
• —Maintain properties in habitable condition as required by Rwanda law
• —Process maintenance requests promptly

6.3 Listing Accuracy

All property listings must accurately represent the property. Misleading photos, false amenities, or incorrect pricing are violations of these Terms and may result in listing removal and account suspension.

6.4 Application to Approval

Landlords are free to approve or reject any tenant application for legitimate reasons. Discrimination based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or disability is strictly prohibited and violates Rwanda law and HausLink policy.

6.5 Listing Approval

All property listings are subject to review and approval by HausLink before publication. HausLink reserves the right to reject or remove listings that violate these Terms, contain false information, or are deemed inappropriate for the platform.

7.1 Tenant Subscription

RWF 5,000 per month for Professional access. Billed monthly to your chosen payment method. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled.

7.2 Landlord Registration

RWF 10,000 one-time lifetime fee. Paid once during registration. Non-refundable after account activation. No monthly fees are ever charged to landlords.

7.3 Payment Methods

HausLink accepts:

• ✅MTN Mobile Money
• ✅Airtel Money
• ✅Visa credit and debit cards
• ✅Mastercard credit and debit cards

7.4 Failed Payments

If a tenant subscription payment fails, access will be downgraded to the free Starter plan within 24 hours. You will be notified and given 7 days to update your payment method before any data is affected.

7.5 Price Changes

HausLink reserves the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days advance notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before any price change takes effect.

8.1 Platform Fee

HausLink charges a 2% platform fee on all rent payments successfully processed through the platform. This fee is automatically deducted from the payment before it reaches the landlord.

8.3 When Fees Apply

The 2% fee applies only to:

• —Monthly rent payments
• —Security deposit payments
• —Any other payments processed through HausLink's payment system

8.4 When Fees Do Not Apply

No fee is charged on:

• —Failed or declined payments
• —Refunded transactions
• —Payments made outside the platform
• —Platform subscription payments

8.5 Fee Disputes

If you believe a fee was incorrectly charged, contact support@hauslink.com within 30 days. HausLink will investigate and resolve disputes within 7 business days.

9.1 What is a Featured Listing

Featured Listings receive priority placement in search results, a gold star badge, and increased visibility across the platform. They appear at the top of all category and location search results.

9.2 Featured Listing Pricing

• —RWF 25,000 per property per month
• —RWF 5,000 per property per week
• —Billed at the start of each period

9.3 Featured Listing Terms

Featured status does not guarantee a tenant will be found. HausLink does not guarantee any specific number of views, enquiries or applications for featured properties.

9.4 Cancellation

Featured Listings can be cancelled at any time. No refund is provided for partial periods already paid.

The following are strictly prohibited on HausLink:

• 🚫Posting fake, fraudulent or non-existent properties
• 🚫Impersonating another person or entity
• 🚫Uploading false identity documents
• 🚫Harassment or abusive communication between users
• 🚫Discrimination in tenant selection based on protected characteristics
• 🚫Using the platform to facilitate illegal rental arrangements
• 🚫Collecting rent outside the platform to avoid transaction fees
• 🚫Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
• 🚫Scraping, copying or reproducing platform content without permission
• 🚫Attempting to hack, disrupt or damage the platform
• 🚫Sharing login credentials with other users
• 🚫Using the platform for any unlawful purpose

11.1 Listing Requirements

All listings must include:

• ✅Accurate property title and description
• ✅Real photos of the actual property
• ✅Correct location (city and neighbourhood)
• ✅Accurate pricing with no hidden fees
• ✅Correct room and bathroom count
• ✅Honest amenities list

11.2 Listing Review

HausLink reviews all new listings before publication. Review typically takes 1–2 business days. HausLink may request additional information or photos before approving a listing.

11.3 Listing Removal

HausLink reserves the right to remove any listing that violates these Terms, contains false information, receives multiple tenant complaints, or is deemed inappropriate for the platform.

11.4 Landlord Responsibility

Landlords are solely responsible for the accuracy of their listings. HausLink does not independently verify all listing details and is not liable for losses arising from inaccurate listing information.

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

All content on HausLink including text, graphics, logos, icons and software is the property of HausLink or its content suppliers and is protected by Rwanda and international copyright laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute or create derivative works from HausLink content without express written permission.

Property photos uploaded by landlords remain the property of the landlord. By uploading photos, landlords grant HausLink a non-exclusive license to display those photos on the platform and in marketing materials.

14.1 Platform Role

HausLink is a technology platform only. We are not a real estate agent, property manager, or party to any rental agreement. All disputes between landlords and tenants are the responsibility of the parties involved.

14.2 No Guarantee

HausLink does not guarantee:

• —That any listing is accurate or truthful
• —That a tenant will be found for any property
• —That any application will be approved
• —Uninterrupted access to the platform at all times

14.3 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Rwanda law, HausLink’s liability for any claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the amount paid by the user in the 3 months preceding the claim.

14.4 User Disputes

HausLink is not responsible for resolving disputes between landlords and tenants beyond providing communication tools. We encourage users to resolve disputes directly and professionally.

15.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting support or through your account settings. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any fees paid.

15.2 By HausLink

HausLink may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you:

• —Violate these Terms
• —Provide false information
• —Engage in fraudulent activity
• —Harass other users
• —Repeatedly receive complaints from other users

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the platform ceases immediately. HausLink will retain your data for a period as required by Rwanda law and then delete it in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Rwanda. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rwanda.
